Juniper Lane Psychiatry

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I become a new patient?

New patients begin by completing a New Patient Inquiry. Your information will be reviewed, and someone from Juniper Lane Psychiatry will follow up with you regarding next steps, whether or not the practice is able to offer services.

Do you accept insurance?

Juniper Lane Psychiatry is in network with Aetna, Anthem, Cigna/Evernorth, Medical Mutual, and UnitedHealthcare/Optum. Coverage varies by plan, so patients should verify their individual benefits and coverage.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. Telehealth may be available when clinically appropriate after care is established. Patients must be physically located in Ohio at the time of a telehealth appointment.

Do you provide therapy?

Brief therapeutic interventions, coping strategies, psychoeducation, and behavioral approaches may be incorporated into psychiatric appointments. Juniper Lane Psychiatry does not provide therapy-only services or ongoing psychotherapy.

Do you evaluate and treat adult ADHD?

Yes. Adult ADHD evaluations may include a comprehensive clinical assessment, structured diagnostic tools, review of relevant history, and QB testing when clinically appropriate. Completion of an evaluation does not guarantee an ADHD diagnosis or stimulant treatment.

Will I receive medication at my first appointment?

Not necessarily. Treatment recommendations are based on the full evaluation, clinical needs, safety considerations, and available information. Additional records, testing, or follow-up may sometimes be needed before a medication is started or changed.

Do you prescribe controlled substances?

Controlled medications may be prescribed when clinically appropriate. They require additional monitoring and adherence to Juniper Lane Psychiatry’s Controlled Substance Treatment Agreement. A diagnosis does not automatically guarantee treatment with a controlled medication.

What if I currently take a benzodiazepine such as Xanax, Klonopin, Ativan, or Valium?

Juniper Lane Psychiatry does not generally provide indefinite high-dose or long-term benzodiazepine maintenance. However, taking a benzodiazepine does not automatically prevent you from becoming a patient.

If you are taking a higher dose or have been on a benzodiazepine long term, I may be willing to work with you on a slow, individualized taper toward a safer dose or discontinuation when appropriate. Tapers may take many months or, in some cases, years and can be adjusted based on symptoms and clinical need.

If this applies to you, we will review your current regimen together and agree on a shared treatment plan and expectations before moving forward.

Do you see children or adolescents?

Juniper Lane Psychiatry currently provides care for adults age 18 and older.

Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?

Yes. Evening and weekend appointments are available.

Do you accept self-pay patients?

Yes. Self-pay options are available for patients who do not wish to use insurance or whose services are not covered by their insurance plan. Please contact the office for current self-pay rates.

Do you accept Medicare or Medicaid?

No. Juniper Lane Psychiatry does not participate with Medicare or Medicaid.
